Our US diet, referred to as SAD (Standard American Diet), is a refined food diet laden with fat and high-cholesterol, deficient in required fiber and nutrients, and is the primary contributing cause of heart disease, strokes, many types of cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure and many other serious conditions, reducing both the quality and length of our lives.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain
- Emily Dickinson

All education should be directed toward the refinement of the individual's sensibilities in relation not only to one's fellow humans everywhere, but to all living things whatsoever. - Ashley Montagu (1905-1999)
I feel blessed that I was introduced to this [vegan] lifestyle more than 12 years ago [1996] by Dexter [their son]. I prefer to eat mostly raw or 'living' foods. The benefits for me are increased energy, a slowing of the aging process, and I have none of the diseases like hypertension, heart disease and diabetes that many people my age seem to get. - Coretta Scott King (1927 - 2006)
Of all the teachings we receive, this one is the most important:
Nothing belongs to you of what there is; what you take, you must share.
- My Heart Soars, Chief Dan George
Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself. - James Anthony Froude (1818-1894)

With so much disease ravaging our land---it is estimated that 70% is related to the animal-based diet---it is no wonder that veganism is gaining acceptance. - David Gabbe

Mankind cannot, I submit, save itself from destruction through mere cleverness of scientific technology selfishly applied, nor through wishful thinking. But through a deep sense of brotherhood of all life, and a willingness and eagerness on the part of each and every person to work constructively for the preservation and enhancement of life, mankind may yet be preserved and go forward into the next millennium with confidence, competence and compassion. - H. Jay Dinshah
The majority of the diseases which the human family have been and still are suffering under, they have created by ignorance of their own organic health, and work perseveringly to tear themselves to pieces, and when broken down and debilitated in body and mind, send for the doctor and drug themselves to death. - Ellen White (1827 - 1915), co-founder Seventh Day Adventists, 1866
Such prosperity as we have known it up to the present is the consequence of rapidly spending the planet's irreplaceable capital. - Aldous Huxley (1894-1963)

...I draw great strength from my kinship with animals. Some of my best friends have had four legs. Perhaps you, too, have had a relationship with an animal that has enriched you as a human being. But much of our food today comes from animals raised in factory farms that resemble concentration camps.... >>MORE
