Veg Wisdom

If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them.
- Phil Pastoret

Veg Wisdom

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person. - Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997)

Veg Wisdom

A mind that is stretched by a new idea can never go back to its original dimensions. - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809 - 1894), American physician and writer

Veg Wisdom

My doctrine is this, that if we see cruelty or wrong that we have the power to stop, and do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt. - Anna Sewell, English Novelist (1820-1878)

Veg Wisdom

Nothing is more powerful than an individual acting out of his conscience, thus helping to bring the collective conscience to life. - Norman Cousins (1915-1990)

Veg Wisdom

Cruelty is the luxury of those who have nothing to do, like drugs or racing stables. - Marguerite Yourcenar, French Writer (1903 - 1987)

Veg Wisdom

We will never have peace on earth as long as we have suffering and death on our tables or on our backs. Peace begins with what you eat, wear and use. Being vegan is not sufficient for leading a nonviolent life---but it is most certainly necessary. If you are not vegan, go vegan. It's easy; it's better for your health and for the planet. But, most important, it's the morally right thing to do. - Gary Francione

Veg Wisdom

The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality. - Schopenhauer, (1788-1860) On the Basis of Morality

Edu-Stat

Cows used for their milk are drugged and bred to produce unnatural amounts of milk; they have their babies stolen from them shortly after birth and sent to notoriously cruel veal farms so that humans can drink the calves' milk.

Veg Wisdom

... half the world starves. What a planet. And the eating, if you're lucky enough to do any. Stuffing pieces of dead animals into a hole in your face. Then munch, munch, munch. If there's anybody watching, they must be dying of laughter. - Iris Murdoch, Irish-born British Author (1919 - 1999)

PO Box 369
Malaga NJ 08328
Ph 856-694-2887 Fx 856-694-2288

American Vegan Society is a nonprofit educational membership organization teaching a compassionate way of living that includes veganism. Together we explore and apply compassionate living concepts, and reflect on them and ourselves. We learn how to revere the Earth, how to save the animals, and how to care for ourselves. People follow a vegan lifestyle for ethical reasons, for health, for the environment.

The vegan diet excludes flesh, fish, fowl, dairy products (animal milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, etc.), eggs, honey, animal gelatin, and all other foods of animal origin. It is an adventure in taste; and displays an amazing variety, the fundamentals of which are vegetables, grains, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds. Foods from plants best provide for all people in the world.

Vegans exclude products of cruelty such as leather, wool, fur, and silk, in clothing, upholstery, etc. They dress with care. Fashion with compassion is the style.

United Poultry Concerns (UPC) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the compassionate and respectful treatment of chickens and other domestic fowl. We urge people: Don't Just Switch from Beef to Chicken — Go Vegan! Founded in 1990 by UPC President Karen Davis, UPC is the only organization in the country (and possibly the world) exclusively devoted to the plight of domestic fowl. UPC focuses on these birds because they are the largest number of abused warm-blooded animals in the world.

Along with the billions of birds who are slaughtered each year for food, millions more of these birds suffer in laboratories, get dumped in animal shelters, and die miserably in poultry houses without anyone knowing they ever lived. In fact, it was Karen Davis's discovery of a little crippled hen named Viva, abandoned in a filthy chicken house in Maryland, which led her to start UPC on behalf of all the "Vivas" in the world who desperately need their voices to be heard.

It is provocative and transformative. The World Peace Diet is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our culture, our food, and the source of our broad range of problems—and the way to a positive transformation in our individual and collective lives.
